DSK 6713 - GPIO port

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6713B

Hello. I am working with DSK-6713. I'm new with this kit. I want to synchronize two kits using GPIO external interrupt using pin4. How can I set that interrupt (C code require with header files)? Also how is this interrupt start (i.e rising edge or decreasing edge on pin-4)? What would be the maximum data rate through each GPIO pin?

  • Mukhtar,

Welcome to the TI E2E forum. I hope you will find many good answers here and in the TI.com documents and in the TI Wiki Pages. Be sure to search those for helpful information and to browse for the questions others may have asked on similar topics.

In particular, you will want to go to the TMS320C6713B Product Folder and look through the documentation that is provided for this device. There are also training links provided for many of our processors, and you will find some good ones at the TI Wiki Pages if you search for "C6713 workshop" (no quotes).

There are numerous books available for learning to use this DSK, and I would recommend moving to a newer DSP such as the C6748 unless you are required to use this one for your product.

    Regards,
    RandyP

  • Be careful -- several of the GPIO pins also serve other functions, such as the external interrupt lines.

There is much to learn before you can effectively use the DSP.  Your best approach is to work through the program examples, using TI's documentation for the DSP and its many subsystems.  There are also a few signal=processing textbooks that are based around the DSK6713.

  • Mr. Douglas

Would you please refer me some textbooks related to DSK6713 programming? I had studied a book of "Ralph Chassing" but it wasn't very helpful for me.

  • Thanks Mr. RandyP.

The links you had shared was quiet helpful. Would you please recommend me some books related to C6713 programming? Book that include signal processing examples on C713.

Well I'm bound to work with C6713... :(

  • Mukhtar,

The TI documentation from TI.com and especially the workshop mentioned above from the TI Wiki Pages, these are the best sources of help that I have direct experience with. My strongest recommendation is to follow the workshop and work all the labs.

At the beginning or end of the workshop, there is usually a list of books that may be useful for further learning. I have not read them, so I cannot comment.

There have been many posts on the forum about Chassaing's book and I know it was updated in 2008. The literature ID numbers I have, to avoid recommending a retailer, are ISBN-10: 0470138661 and ISBN-13: 978-0470138663. I have not used this book, either, so my recommendation is only because it is widely used.

    Regards,
    RandyP
