Reg. Sony CMOS sensor support in DM8127

Hi All,

We have got DM8127 IPNC from Appro with MT9J003 sensor support (IPNC RDK v3.0). Also we have got Sony CMOS image sensor module from LI and would like to integrate the same to DM8127 IPNC. The sensor needs SPI driver to work (at least this is true in DM36x). Does current ISS driver support for SPI and Sony sensors? If not, what changes required to be done to address the need? Is there any ISS driver upgrade for the same?

Hi Radhesh,

We don't have support for SPI driver on M3 in the current RDK.

We are working on getting the sony sensors added in the RDK, i think it will take about end of Nov before we have any support on sony sensors in the RDK.

If we want to add support ourselves(say), we may have to write SPI driver on top of current ISS driver ..am I right?

I assume from H/W interface perspective w.r.t DM8127 IPNC , there are no changes required, correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Rajat,

Can you confirm my understanding? Is it sufficient to add SPI driver support or are there any additional changes I may have to consider ?

Do you have any idea on when the support is planned for Sony sensors with SPI ?

Raghesh,

SPI driver is currently emulated using GPIO pins in the current software releases. Functionally there is no problem and the same implementation can be used by you.

Actual SPI driver porting to M3 is not yet done, I think SPI driver can be available in January.

Hi Rajat ,

Even we have the same case as this thread. We are also planning to go with spi based image sensor for our ipnc development.

You have mentioned like , " current release uses gpio pins " . Do i get the information about on which release this gpio bit banging is available ? We have rdk from appro based on dm8127.

IPNC RDK release 3.2 onwards we have included imx104, imx136 sensor driver source in the iss drivers package.

While the sensors IMX104, IMX136 are not shipped as part of default IPNC HW, you can look into the sensor driver source code and see the SPI driver implementation using GPIOs.

What we had got from Appro was IPNC RDK 3.0 . Do i get link from ti website to download only the iss part of IPNC_RDK 3.2 ?
