Adding a camera to c6678

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6678

Greetings, i recently started working with c6678 and there are a few things im having difficulty finding answer to.

1. How to add a webcam to dsp. It will also be required to do analysis on the image aquired. (Ethernet cam? And how would the dsp receive data through ethernet?)

2. How to write a sample code to dsp so that it runs it by itself on boot. (Im running sample codes through ccs.)

I apologize if someone finds my questions improper, but i'd really appriciate the help. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

Thank you

  • 1.) To add a webcam you'd need an interface and drivers to access the webcam.  That's not going to be a typical application for such a high performance DSP and there's not drivers readily available.  You may want to consider the DM64x family of DSPs which are target more to such video processing.  Typically when the C6678 is used for video processing it's in the infrastructure world and the data stream is coming from a network, FPGA, etc for mass processing.

2.) You create a boot image from you code and use whichever bootmode you'd normally use.

    Best Regards,

    Chad
