OMAP 5 power down modes

I am looking for some documentation on the OMAP5's power down modes.  I will have to design to meet new EU standby power regulations and want to know how far off I am right now.  The only doc in CDDS is gives max currents for the 5430.  I am going to use the 5432, and there is no document in CDDS for any 5432 power draws, nevermind power down modes.

  • Hello Nathan,

OMAP54xx power modes are specified in the TRM. Which company do you work for? Device power dissipation depends on various factors and are heavliy influenced by the use cases. This is why we do not specify power consumption numbers in different modes in the data manual.

  • Yes, the power modes are specified but the power draws are not.  I understand that power dissipation depends on various factors, but if you can specify max currents as is done in the OMAP54230_ES1.0_DM_Preliminary_Book, then I think for each one of the chip's modules you should be able to get close on power down mode power consumption.  For instance, how much power draw can I expect from the EMIF modules in power down mode?  How much can I expect from the HDMI module?  Even a percentage reduction or a ball-park would be helpful.

My position is Sr. EE for Precor.

I am sorry for the very public questions on the device, but this is where TI has asked us to go first for help.

  • Hello Nathan,

We do have power consumption numbers for OMAP54xx, but I cannot post it on E2E forum page. Please contact your TI Sales/Technical contact and we will send you this information separately. Also, do keep in mind that if you have a SW Licensing Agreement (SLA) with TI, then we do provide power consumption breakdown with each of our SW releases. If you have an SLA with us, please check with your SW team, perhaps they have this information already, but may not be aware of it.

    Regards,
