HI..

I'm using ICE board and testing board as EtherCAT slave..

In 1.0.0.4 release Notes

"LRW for process data" is Not Supported.. and APRW/FPRW/BRW for SM mapped area

When I can get SDK 1.0.0.5 ??

plus, what does "PDI side register permissions" means?? I just don't understand meaning of " PDI Side reg "

From another forum post:

"PDI is the process data interface from the host controller in our device (or in other words the stack). We currently use 8 bit mode to avoid alignment issues. 16/32 bit will improve performance in future. Obviously the stack can access PDO memory.

Register protection is something implemented in the Beckhoff ASICs that will follow. E.g. that some regs are only readable from PDI side."

I'm not sure when SDK 1.0.0.5 will be released, but you can subscribe to the product page to receive alerts when it is updated. Just click the text that reads: "Alert me about changes". In addition you can also watch the wiki page for 1.0.0.5.

In SDK Release Note(1.0.0.4) -- 8 SM support in Firmware (stack support only 4)

what's difference between Firmware and Stack??

Does Firmware mean 'PRUSS execution program(code)' ??

For the IA-SDK 'firmware' refers to the part of code that implements the low level EtherCAT slave controller (ESC) on the PRU-ICSS. On top of that a stack is required to implement a full EtherCAT slave, higher level protocols (FoE, CoE, EoE,..) and an application. We use Beckhoff Slave Sample Code (SSC) as an example for a stack. But there are other stack solutions in the market.

Currently SSC is limited to 4 SMs but our ESC can do 8. Always check the actual release notes for details.
