BIOS plugins not available in eclipse - cannot build or create new project

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSBIOS

Dear support, I have a strange issue that I do not to resolve (i have reinstall several times and find myself in similar situation time after time)

I install in the following order:

ccs_setup_5.2.1.00018.exe (installing only the C600 libraries)

when I go in the preference window, it looks like that (which is good)

then, I install bios_mcsdk_02_01_00_03_setupwin32.exe for the C6670 only and without the IPC or sys bios modules because they are prior to the version installed on my PC.

I still have the following libraries:

c:\TI\bios_6_33_05_46 and c:\TI\bios_5_41_13_42  on my PC and I did not touch anything.

And I know that I need to install ti_cgt_c6000_7.4.1_setup_win32.exe because I need a newer compiler.

At the end of the installation, I open eclipse and discover new packages

However, here is how my preferences look like now:

Where XDC tools and sysbios and dsp bios have disappeared... and when I create a new project, let's say hello :

here is my problem:

I have try to point on the directory (which failed) and I have no idea what to do. It seems that eclipse got corrupted by the second installation

 .

What do I do. I have tried to reinstall, with all packages... nothing helps.

  • Dear support,

My "pictures" inserted directly inside my post have disappeared. I am attaching8255.Installation.docx a world document describing the issues

By the way, my fifth installation "succeeded". I mean the strange behavior fully described in my previous post is still occuring but XDC tools and sysbios have not been erased by the installation of bios_mcsdk_02_01_00_03_setupwin32.exe.

To reproduce the issue, do not select the packages XDC, sysbios, ipc when installing bios_mcsdk_02_01_00_03_setupwin32.exe.5611.Installation.docx

    thanks in advance

    Aymeric

  • Hi Aymeric

Can you please try the following: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/BIOS_MCSDK_2.0_Getting_Started_Guide#If_MCSDK_components_are_still_not_recognized_by_CCS

Let me know if you still face issues after trying the above steps

  • I am using windows XP that you know but let me try.

    Should I uninstal beforehand?

  • I understand. Let's give it a shot without uninstalling first. If it doesn't work, then uninstall and try it. Let me know how it goes.

  • (http://software-dl.ti.com/sdoemb/sdoemb_public_sw/bios_mcsdk/eclipse/mcsdk2x) is trying to install 2.0.9.21 and I have 2.1.0.3 installed. Therefore it complains about a version that is more recent

What should the correct http address to get the version?

  • Hi Aymeric

I'm consulting with the relevant team members internally. I'll get back to you on this as soon as I hear from them.

  • Thanks for that, I am willing to do the testing that you want to help you out. Be aware that you are talking about a day work.

But please (please please), follow the step by step instructions that I provided in the document.

This is a serious issue - the installation of the MCSDK without IPC XDC and SYSBIOS screws the entire installation of eclipse CCS. This must be a show stopper on your hand.

So far I have not found any work around

  • Uday,

This is now 2 days that this query is opened and I need to know what the status is:

    1) have you been able to replicate the problem following the step by step document I provided you with

    2) what is the resolution for this problem?

    3) How do I get eclipse to recognize IPC, BIOS, XDC after they have been corrupted by the installation of bios_mcsdk_02_01_00_03_setupwin32.exe

    4) When will I receive a work around this issue. By the way, because of my application, it must be using on installer, I cannot use an http link to TI download. I must be able to guaranty that all the tools installed on a PC they way I will provide them to another engineer or customer work together.

    Aymeric

  • Sorry for the Delay. This is indeed a strange issue. Can we try couple of thing to narrow down.

    1. Can you goto CCS-> window tab->preferences. And goto RTSC->products. Check if all the version of the XDCs are available.

    2. If you see both the versions, then uninstall CCS and MCSDK and all the folders in C:\TI (make sure you go manually remove any folder you have in C:\TI). Then install again. but install one version of XDC in a different folder and see if it helps. If this happens, then we might need to file an IR to fix it.

Please let me know how this goes.

    Thanks,

    Arun.

  • Arun,

The detail document that I provided show the answers to your questions. Since I have, to achieve a workable environment, uninstall and install four times, let me provide accurate answers:

    regarding your first point:

    1) when I install MCSDK on top of CCS but I do not select the IPC, BIOS and XDC (since the version of CCS studio is more recent). At the end of the installation,  these three components disappear completely from the list of components CCS-> window tab->preferences->products. You canot even create a new CCS project hello word because XDC is not recognized. Even if I use the path directly to point where the directory is on my drive, it does not see it as a components. (I provided a screen shot in my first post that disappeared and did not store on my PC, sorry)

    2) when I install MCSDK on top of CCS and I do select the IPC, BIOS and XDC (which I should not have to), the previous components install from CCS5 have disappeared. You can see that in the document I provided in my post.

    regarding your second point:

I have uninstall and reinstall several times with several strange issues. But I have never tried to put them in two different directories.

I have my installation in a stable stage. Not in the one I believe it should be since I believe I should have 2 options for XDC, BIOS and IPC and DSP/BIOS should be available. But I have my PC in a state where I can progress therefore I will not retry an installation. I also believe that all ti components should be in C:/ti as per default. When I set up (first install) CCS5 in C:/TI and MSDK in c:/program files/Texas Instrument => i ran in many build issues because of the spaces between the worlds

Arun, I provided a very detail description with screen shots. Can someone run it and acknowledge the issue. If it is run as I wrote it you will be in situation 2 described above (this is a workaround). If you want to understand how critical is the issue, run it is situation 1

    Thanks for your help

  • Arun,

I do not know if someone is still following this query but installing CCS and MCSDK in 2 different directories resolved all the problems.

Even though I thought my previous installation was good enough, I encountered some problems and decided to try your suggestion.

So you provided the workaround to the install problem.

    Thanks

    Aymeric
