Hi,

Can the ZCE 13x13mm package be found in any reference design or any other design that one may look at before deteriming the amount of pcb layers and other stack-up related issues?

Hi Marcus,

I don't think that there is any publicly available design based on the AM3352/3354 ZCE. However, you should notice that though the ball pitch is 0.65mm (compared to 0.8mm on the ZCZ), the ZCE package employs the so called "via channels", meaning that some balls are depopulated to allow for easier routing. I should think that the available ZCZ reference designs can be safely used for ZCE PCB estimations.

Can the ZCE package be routed using PTH vias or do I have to use blind and/or buried vias?

Hi Marcus,

Generally, you should be able to make it with PTH vias.

Here is a link to a TI application report: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/spraav6b/spraav6b.pdf . It's about OMAP35X, but it's also a 0.65mm pitch BGA with via channels.

Thanks for your suggestions. The examples are similar. It all depends on the usage of the pins. If I'm lucky I can manage without blind vias.
