JPEG encoder revisited.

Hello,

Jpeg encoding and decoding can be done via HDVICP2 in DM816x. Codecs are available since long. But note that current EZSDK (5.04) only integrates Jpeg decoder, does not integrate encoder.

Hi,

    I was able to integrate the JPEG codec and get the Jpeg encoder working on the IVAHD subsystem (M3) through openMax. Also I created a gstreamer plugin (omx_jpegenc) to be able to use the codec from gstreamer, you can find a example pipeline here:

Currently I am using EZSDK 5.05.02.00 on DM8168 EVM

gst-launch  v4l2src device=/dev/video5  num-buffers=1 always-copy=false queue-size=8  ! 'video/x-raw-yuv,format=(fourcc)NV12,width=1920,height=1080,framerate=(fraction)60/1' ! omxbufferalloc numBuffers=12 ! queue  ! gstperf ! omx_jpegenc num-buffers=1 ! filesink location= test.jpeg

It works with MJPEG video too:

gst-launch omx_camera num-buffers=1000  ! "video/x-raw-yuv, format=(fourcc)NV12, width=1920, height=1080, framerate=60/1, buffer-count-requested=10" ! omx_jpegenc ! qtmux dts-method=0 ! gstperf  ! filesink location=mjpegVideo.mov

  The omx_jpegenc plugin was created for one of our customers. You can find the plugin in our github repository:

  Furthermore you will need to integrate the TI RDK JPEG encoder into the M3 firmware of the EZSDK. Ridgerun has this working for one of our customers. You can contact us for more details
