HDMI vs. DVO1

Hello,

I would like to understand the difference between HDMI output and DVO1 output:

Is HDMI output the same as DVO1 (both output show the same data) ? Is HDMI resolution also not limited in any way (except for 165Mhz) as in DVO1 ? The HDVPSS figure shows that both output are from same HDVENC, but HDMI is sent into HDMI xmt , does it put any limitation on its output ?

    Hi,

    HDMI is a encoder after DVO1 so it just encodes the incoming DVO signals in to HDMI signalling. So practically there is not limitation on DVO1 and HDMI in terms of resolution. But HDMI standard recognizes different resolutions as the standard HDMI resolutions. You can have any arbitary resolution as HDMI resolution like if you have a potrait LCD like 480X640 which is found in many smart phones, Its not LCD resolution but you can configure HDMI and DVO1 both to throw this resolution out but since its not a standard HDMI resolution most of the TVs/Sinks wont recognize it.
