VMMC and REGEN1 of PMIC TWL6032 Power Down when linux kernel starting to run

Hi expert,

We use OMAP4460 and TWL6032 in our project.

When booting, if the system is running in u-boot, all the power supply of TWL6032 is fine.

But when linux kernel is start to run, the power supply VMMC, and REGEN1 are power down. Then linux kernel can't copy files from SD card.

I don't know what is the problem, please help me.

By the way, can anyone explain the working principles of PMIC and OMAP4 ? How does OMAP4 control the PMIC in different conditions (active,idle,sleep,wait)?

How does OMAP4460 control the Power on/off of PMIC REGEN1,REGEN2, and LDOs by I2C interface?

Hello Wells,

What SW release are you running on? Additionally, how are you implementing twl6032 SW support? The patch in http://review.omapzoom.org/#/c/23568/ gives the user the option to configure twl6032 as the 4460's pmic, and you can select the CONFIG_TWL6032_PMIC configuration option.

We use Jorjin AP module which use OMAP4460 and TWL6032. And we get the source code from Jorjin.

scematic please is everything good with the LDOs grd and output capacators , in not sure but you might need to play around with the "boot" pins

Wells,

Do you mean that you can boot the x-loader, u-boot, and kernel fine from the SD card, but the kernel changes the MMC / VMMC configuration in such a way that makes the SD card inaccessible? You will want to check the VMMC configuration and also the MMC pin muxing in the kernel board files. Since you are using a Jorjin module and the Jorjin software, I recommend you check with Jorjin support if you need help finding the VMMC / MMC configuration in their board files. (In the OMAP releases mentioned on omappedia, this is done in /arch/arm/mach-omap2/board-44xx-tablet.c and board-44xx-power.c.)
