Processors with LCD output in Portrait Mode / Rotation

We started out using an AM335x processor, but quickly realized we can only output to an LCD in landscape mode.  

What families of processors support portrait mode or 90* rotation to get there?  I found that some of the OMAP (OMAP 3530 for example) processors support rotation, but these processors seem to be way too much overkill for our application.  Essentially we want to AM335x with rotation.  

Also, as a side curious question, why are the defaults all landscape?   Is there more customer demand for that?
