What is the difference between a .l64P file and a .dll64P file?

I am working with a DSP bridge based multimedia system, and existiing applications seem to use DSP libraries with .dll64P extension. Same with OpenMAX. On the other hand, when I download separate codecs, or the ones in DVSDK are in .l64P format. What is the difference between those files? Can a .l64P file compiled into a .dll64P?
