8107/814x: Urgent queries on H264 decoder (HDVICP)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DM8107

Hi,

I am evaluating DM8107 for a decoder solution. Since there is no post category for DM810x and DM814x is similar to DM8107, I am posting in this forum

Any help on below will be highly appreciated.

1. Can the 8107 decoder auto reduce the frame rate once it overloaded with HW limitation (eg. I have opened 16 channels of 1080P@30fps with DM8107 and if decoder is not capable to handle this, will it still perform decoding of 16 channels, although at minimum frame rate ?(let's say 1 fps for each 16 channel ?))

2. If I have 16 channels of 1080P (although with 1 fps decoding of each) , can hardware scalar perform scale down operation of each channel to fit them in 4x4 layout ? What is the level of parallelism for 1080P input to scalar ? What is the maximum number of 1080P channels, h/w scalar can deal with at a particular instance ?

3. What is the limitation of input bit rate for decoder (considering case of 1x1080P_60, 4x720P_30 and 8xD1)? If the input channel's overall bit rate exceeds HW decoder's limitation, then what will happen ?

  • Hi,

HW  works on buffer basis, so having multichannel would reduce the frame rate. However you might run out of memory for high resolution multichannel. Also M3 cycles and M3-A8 communication would pose limitations.
