YUYV input format in 8bit mode

Hi,

We are using the DM8148 EVM to capture video from a custom source. We are using HDVPSS VIN0A in 8bit single channel mode with discrete sync. We are able to make the capture but the chroma / luma ordering is wrong because the HDVPSS expects the input format to be UYVY but our video source can only support YUYV. Is there a way we can modify the HDVPSS source to support the order switching of chroma / luma? Or is there any hardware in HDVPSS that can do the switching? We are using DVR-RDK 3.0.0

Hi Tim,

This can be done, requires an update to HDVPSS drivers. With current HDVPSS drivers, this cannot be supported.

The idea is, VIP requires to the stream to be in UYVY format and its stored in memory in YUYV format. We require to add support to capture driver to output in UYVY format.

By using this output mode, we should be able to receive and process YUVY video streams.

Hi Sujith,

We found a work around for now. It will be nice to have it handled by standard drivers.

In case anybody's interested, we changed the resource reservation routine in vps capture driver where input source can be specified to have either CY422 or YC422 as format.

I changed all

pObj->vpdmaInfo[outId].vpdmaChDataType[0] = VPSHAL_VPDMA_CHANDT_YC422;

pObj->vpdmaInfo[outId].vpdmaChDataType[0] = VPSHAL_VPDMA_CHANDT_CY422;
