Mini USB not detected in C5515 FDK?

I had a problem with connecting ccs5.1.0 to FDK kit. I'm getting the  following error code when clicking on connect target button,

"C55xx: Error connecting to the target: (Error -151 @ 0x0) One of the FTDI driver functions used during the connect returned bad status or an error. The cause may one                      or more of: invalid emulator serial number, blank emulator EEPROM, missing FTDI drivers, faulty USB cable. Use the xds100serial command-line utility in the 'common/uscif' folder to verify the emulator can be located. (Emulation package 5.0.663.0) "

My Hardware Spec:

 > IDE CCS5.1.0

 > C5515 FDK ,optical sensor

 > Windows platform.

Problem's facing:

   1. It can't switch the mode from normal to User Bios mode.

   2. When i connect devices with mini USB alone, system doesn't response. I mean in device manager window nothing is displaying.

   3. Only the Type B detected and driver has installed automatically. In the device manager window shows TI Channel A, TI channel B.

Queries:

    1. Should i have to install any drivers like FTDI.

    2. I can't get the driver for FT2232D0708 chip. Where i can download it?

    3. The mode can be change automatically or we have to press the DIP switch.

  • Hi,

If you connect the Mini USB cable alone, nothing will come up in Device Manager. You need to connect the Type B USB cable to PC for communication and interaction with FDK. For connecting from CCS also you need to connect both the USB cables.

The FDK kit has been tested and verified with CCS 4.2.3. Try installing CCS 4.2.3 which is avaialble in the CD which came with the kit. If you are still unable to connect, make sure that the target configuration you are using is correct.

  • Hi ,

Thanks for the reply. Actually my problem is, when i'm executing D100_tool.exe file it opened like following screen shot.

I mean its opened only in dsp normal mode. As per the document , it automatically to Bios- User mode if the FDK successfully detected. But it doesn't change. I can't load bin file into my device. what should i do for changing Bios mode. I'm troubling on this. Please help me to come out of this.

  • Hi,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

BIOS mode is discussed in the FDK Windows Program User's Guide: http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spruh46/spruh46.pdf

BIOS mode is entered by holding down the push button S1 labled 'Update' on the extension board when plugging in the USB cable into the larger J1 USB port. In the documentation the push button is called DIP switch S1, but is populated with a push button...

Please note that the BIOS mode is only needed to update the software images for each of the sensors. Tthe FDK automatically determines which sensor is attached, and uses the software for that sensor.

Refer to this excerpt from the FDK Windows Program User's Guide:

"The FDK reserves four program storage spaces for different sensors. Three programs of corresponding sensor have been programmed to the FDK storage spaces: OP-100R, ATW310 and FPC1011. You can get OP-100R and ATW310 sensor from the FDK package. If you want to test the FPC1011 sensor, you can contact Tooan (www.tooan.cn).
If there are any bugs found after the release of this FDK, we will build new version program according to different sensors. You can get your FDK program updated in this mode, but you have to first connect the corresponding sensor to FDK board correctly. (The GUI will tell you the sensor type connected to the FDK core board.) In this case, the User BIOS will know which program need to be replaced in the storage space. All the new upgrade files can be get from Tooan (www.tooan.cn).
In this mode, only the “Get Version,” “Set BaudRate,” and “Download” commands will respond.
Usually, you do not need to enter this mode."

    Hope this helps.
