Camera Interface with AM335x SK

Hi,

Could any one tell me about camera interfacing with AM335x EVM and AM335x SK ?

Assuming the Kit is running with sitara Linux, what steps i need to take to achieve the desired work. ?
As for android ICE, there is an camera app which when open doesn't respond due to absence of any camera device. How to do the same in this case also. See the comments from SK EVM andriod user guide: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM335X_EVM-SK_Android_Devkit_Guide

Feature supported:

Image Capture

Go to application/activity view luncher > open camera
Click on camera capture.By default images will get stored at - /sdcard/DCIM

Note: Video recording is not supported

Hi MAndar,

Yoi could use the USB based Camera module and connect to it. Post which you may invoke the camera applcation to capture images.

HI Feroz,

Thanks for your information. Should i go any camera USB-interfaced device or specific ones? Could you suggest me ?
Also at the time of interface, are there additional steps to take to make it functional in both Sitara linux and andriod?

Hi Mandar,

Any USB video class suppoting dongle should work. I am not aware of any specific models though. We do not support the customization of the drivers here, so not sure if we can help the details.

Alternatively for ready drivers and module, you may look at below option:

QuickLogic has developed a low power Camera Interface chip that works with AM335x processors. We also have a camera cape for the Beagle Bone system.
