UCD9222, UCD7242 for 2x C667x

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD9222, UCD7242

I am intending to use 2x C667x DSP on my boards. The Hardware User Guide shows the schematic for UCD9222, UCD7242 for DSP C6616. I was wondering could I replace the 2x C6616 with my 2x C667x DSP.

I should be using Configuration2 with 1x UCD9222, 2x UCD7242 in order to provide 20A per rail as I use the power estimation excel sheet with C6678 and calculate the CVDD to be 12A for 1x C6678. I believe I am overestimating the current requirement of 12A for 1x C6678 hence the 20A should be sufficient.

Btw, I realize when I switch the power estimation excel sheet from power to current in the variable field, the CVDD1 column does not change. I believe your side may have made an error in doing the macro for the excel sheet.

  • Wenjun,

The DSP in the HW Design Guide is the TCI6616 but the power solution is the same for the C6678 thanks to the consistency of the Keystone Devices.

I will suggest that the spreadsheet is correct to report the same number for X mW @ 1.0V and for X mA @ 1.0V. You will agree with that, I hope, based on the equation for Power = Voltage * Current.

  • Oh ya, u r right. I was misleaded as all the other column is changing, even the CVDD column. I realize that the CVDD uses 0.9V for worst case current estimation.
