I am intending to extend the interface capability of C6672 which is specialized for high speed interface. I want to extend the SATA2, USB2 and analog video HD interface using DM8168. 1x C6672 will be communicating with the DM8168 through PCIe2 (x2 lanes). DM8168 will be just an interface chip to convert PCIe2 signals to either USB2, SATA or analog video interface.
I would like to ask if the DM8168 acts as just an interface chip, does it require DDR3 memory and other memory or will the internal cache be sufficient? I am asking this because I have limited space on my PCB to put in more memory chips.
For the analog video, I am intending to pull out just the IOUTA (HD DAC(G/Y)), IOUTB (HD DAC(B/Pb)), IOUTC (HD DAC(R/Pr)) for analog HD video and the DAC_VOUT1_HSYNC and DAC_VOUT1_VSYNC to a connector. Will it be sufficient?
