Hai Support,

We have build a board on AM3354 and we are trying to bringup. As per the WIKI notes on bringup AM3354 Processor should throw out "CCCC" characters on UART0 port TX pins. But we are observing that TX line is always high. We were able to connect the JTAG programmer and detect the Processor and it is alive as we were able to see the registers values. Can someone suggest what to check next on this.

Can you check whether you are using the right boot mode? In your case, see whether the boot mode pins are set to boot up from UART0

Hai,

Even after putting it to UART boot as the first option, we are not getting any data from UART0 port. Can you suggest something else.

Hi Erfan,

I just want to know, have you used the oscilloscope to test the uart0_txd pin of 3354 chip?

It seems that the TX line is always high is the result of the test on the RS232_TXD pin, which is the output of the chip MAX3232E, or any other similar chips.

I advise to test the signal on the chip side to ensure there's nothing wrong with the RS232 driver chip.

Erfan, I think the processor is fine since you can connect thru JTAG. As Steven mentions, it looks like you have problems with the UART signaling, or maybe a bad cable
