C5515 Wake Up Times

Hi everyone,

I have been looking for wake up times for the C5515 for different IDLE modes, specifically from RTC only mode. Could anyone please direct me to where I could find these numbers (if they exist). I have looked around through the TRM and any app notes/white papers and could not find the times.

I also wanted to verify one other question I had. The ADC’s should be able to run in an IDLE mode (assuming their clock is not gated), during this time can the FIFO + DMA be used to buffer and store the readings?

Brandon,

There is no wakeup time specified for different IDLE modes.

Also, in IDLE3 and IDLE2 mode, DMA and FIFO clock domains should be powered off.

Well, not to disagree with Steve, but the TMS320C5515 datasheet specifies "Delay time, wake-up event high to CPU active" in Table 6-9 on page 83. See SPRS645B.

Keep in mind that if you are operating in "RTC only mode", the PLL is probably off and your SYSCLK may be running at 32kHz. So you need to account for the time to execute the PLL enable/lock instructions @ 32 kHz, plus the time for the PLL to lock (4 ms minimum per datasheet). In practice you are probably looking a 4 to 8 milliseconds to wake up from that mode, to running at full speed (depending upon whether your CLKREF is set to RTC clock or CLKIN by the CLKSEL pin).
