I notice in the C6678 EVB schematic, that the 1.8V is split into 2 voltage regulators (TPS73701). 1 is always enabled (C6678 TSIP, JTAG, GPIO Bootmode) and the other regulator is enabled by FPGA for power sequencing.
Could I use 1 voltage regulator (TPS73701) for C6678 (C6678 TSIP, JTAG, GPIO Bootmode as well as other C66 peripherals that uses 1.8V) and that regulator will be controlled by power sequencing. Would I still be able to JTAG into C6678 if I use 1 voltage regulator instead of 2.
As long as you meet the Power Sequencing requirements you're fine. On the EVM the FPGA needs to come up first as it's controlling other items on the board that need to be there before the DSP comes up and thus it requires a separate regulator. The JTAG doesn't need to be enabled first, it's just being controlled through the FPGA since there's multiple potential emulation sources (on board USB and through the 60pin header.) Bootmode is also driven by the FGPA in this case, but they could have been on pull-ups/pull-downs in your system.
