maximum level supported

Guru 20755 points

Hello,

In h.264 HDVICP 2.0 datashhet is tais that max level is 5,1. while in user's guide "frequently asked questions" it says that 4.2 is the maximum level allowed. Which is true ? Is the frequently asked question chapter updated ?

Thanks,

Ran

  • Yes, the FAQ does not seem to be updated.

  • Hi Yashwant,

Is the FAQ not updated for H.264 decoder too?

The FAQ lists some limitations. Now if this section is not updated, I'm not sure if there is a limit or not.

What is the maximum level supported by this decoder?

The decoder supports levels up to 5.1 for functionality.

However note that the bit rate and frame rate supported by decoder in real time, depends on the frequency of HDVICP2. For ex: At 266 MHz, 1080P 30fps, upto 25 Mbps CABAC is supported.

Now I try to understand if there is any limit for standard, for example using 522Mhz, with 1920x1080p60 CABAC in stream for decode, will result in any problem in decoding ?

  • Hi Ran,

You can do 1080P@60 CABAC on 522Mhz IVAHD without problem for typical bitrates. But note that level 5.1 says max bitrate as 240Mbps, which is too high. At such bitrate, you may see performance degardation. This is what was intended from that FAQ.

  • Can level 5.1 be also used with HP  (300 Mbits/sec) ,MP, and BP ?
