How to rename AM335XEVM_SK in "About Tablet" ?

I'm working on a new device based on the AM335XEVM_SK. We of course need our company name on the screen and our model number when the user selects the "About" screen.

Where can I find the string to edit "Model Number" which displays in "About Tablet" ?

I also need to change "Kernel Version" as I get a string of my email address and the ID of my build machine there when I build the kernel.

Grepping has found a lot of AM335XEVM strings but so far everyone I've changed didn't change anything on the screen after a kernel build.

Hi,

To change the model number for your device, modify the "PRODUCT_MODEL" in device/ti/am335xevm_sk/am335xevm_sk.mk

Even you can modify the other fields: PRODUCT_NAME, PRODUCT_DEVICE, PRODUCT_BRAND, PRODUCT_MANUFACTURER as per your requirement.

That didn't work.

I changed all of those strings and rebuilt the kernel and uimage. The strings remained the same. Is it possible this is the wrong place or do I have to build the root file system to change these display strings?

You need to rebuild the android rootfs. The file pointed by Umakanta are for configuring the android filesystem.

Rebuilding only the kernel uImage will not change anything.

Hello

I can change the Model number & Product name. But i can't change the build number. its come up like am335xevm_sk-eng & my desktop host name & test-keys. How can i change this am335xevm_sk its not available in am335xevm_sk.mk

The build number is the product build signature. This uniquely identifies your build. It is not advisable to change its format.

The TI DevKit release uses the default AOSP test-keys for release.

You need to generate valid keys as per your specific requirement. Refer this link for more information : http://www.kandroid.org/online-pdk/guide/release_keys.html
