[TI816x] a little white and black dots in the object edge

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5158

Hi

i was encountered a problem like capture link issue.

live screen and captured screen had a  little black and white dots in the object edge.

it was shown in the object's edge line (looks like follow Y data line),  DEI  can affect?

when i reboot the machine, sometimes it was shown and sometimes it was not shown.

further more strange thing is that when 1~8 channel was shown ,  9~16 channel was not shown (verse versa).

it was shown group of eight. all of sixteen channel was not shown.

avi file( i have another thing if you need)

log file

3463.201211141918.txt

2G bld file

2772.8080.config_2G.pdf

i'm using DVRRDK3.0.0.0 TI816x and i changed 2GB DDR 3(i checked ddr3 timing , it's ok)

and modify and test bootargs  like this "mem=128M mem=472M@0xC0000000 vmalloc=580M" and "mem=128M mem=340M@0xC0000000".

but nothing changed.

Execept dots in the edge, other things all ok.

Best Regards.

  • Are you seeeing the black dots in SD bypass path or not (Capture -> SDdisplay)

  • i saw the black dots in SDTV(1channel full) path. i use progressive usecase.

    Thanks.

  • SD bypass path does not go thru DEI as captured frames are directly fed to SD display. Are you sure you are seeing the issue in SD bypass and not in SD mosaic. If you see the issue with SD bypass it indicates video decoder(TVP 5158)  or cature source has the issue.

  • i use multich_progressive_vcap_venc_vdec_vdis usecase.

according to the usecase diagram, capture_display_dup-> SDTV Disp.

is it right capture_display_dup only work mem copy(duplication)?

i think my usecase is SD bypass and not SD mosaic. in the progressive mode SD mosaic was not supported.

do you think i check video decoder(we not using tvp5158).?

i met video decoder FA. he told me that he saw similar screen in the hisilicon . it was memory timing issue.

what do you think about memory timing check?

    Regards.

  • You are right progressive demo does not do SD mosaic. So SD display is just directly displaying captured image. Can you send a solid color and check if you still see the issue.

If you see the issue even with solid color then you can dump the capture buffers are check the pixels corresponding to location where the black dots are seen.

From the video you sent it looked like the issue is seen at edges of images. This seems unlikely that this is due to memory timing and more likely it is due to video decoder.Anyhow did you modify anything related to memory timing after which you are seeing this issue ? I assume you have confirmed there is no issue with the camera source by connecting camera to display directly .

  • Thank you Narayanan.

    Your advice so many helped.

black dots issue caused by video decoder's pll setting. we worked with decoder company's engineer .

again thank you. have a nice weekends.

    Best Regards.
