Is L3RAM on L138 available to applications on both ARM and DSP?

Hi,

I seem to remember reading about the L3RAM is used by ARM/Linux and is not available to applications. Is this true?

Where can I found information on ARM/Linux's memory usage? How do I reserve a trunk a memory in ARM for the purpose of DSP-ARM communication?

Yan,

Default memory map in DSPLINK assumes 1MB in L3 memory is used for ARM and DSP communication. This memory is configurable in DSPLINK package.

Follow the instructions mentioned on this wiki to make the appropriate changes.

There is also a dynamic approach to configuring DspLink via the Proc_setup() call. For memory configuration, it may be simpler to use the static approach but you can take a look at the dynamic approach at:

Thanks, but

I am not using DSPLink because of the DSP/Bios overhead.
L3RAM has only 128KB, and is mapped to 0x80000000 on DSP. Is this L3RAM visible/available to ARM at the same address?
DSPLink seems to use DDR oxC3******** as seen from DSP.

You can look in /proc/iomem to see what memory Linux is using.By default, it should not be using the L3 RAM. The shared L3 RAM is accessible to both cores.
