DM36X OV9712/OV9715 image quality

Hello everyone, at first I use the TI EVM with the sensor of MT9P031. Now I want to change the sensor to OV9712. I just change the sensor driver program as the AVServer_DesignGuide_IPNC_DM36x.pdf says. Now I can see the image through VLC. I have the 24CheckColorI and standart light box by hand.

I tuning Ov9712 using the tool DM36xImageTuningTool. I only do AEWB and Collor correction with this tool. Now I have questions as follows:

1.The bright area is normal But the dark area of the image is a little green

2.If the area of the scene is a little dark ,the image of the same area is darker than it actural is.

The attachment can show the problems.

Who can help me what is the matter?

Is it because the Collor Correction Matrix is not acute or something else? I didn't change the Gamma table which is designed for MT9P031 originally.

Do I need to change the Gamma table specifically for the OV9712 ?

Hi Li,

I assume you have disabled basic ISP blocks in OV9712 (AGC, AEC, AWB etc).

Can you share the snapshot with the color chart?

Hi Radhesh Bhad !Thank you for your answer! I have disabled the AGC AEC AWB bolock of the ISP in the OV9712 sensor. Because I use these blocks in the back end DM365 module.The sensor just provides raw bayer datas and do not do any image process such as AGC AEC .etc.

I perceive we can only use ether AGC AEC in the sensor or in the back end DM365 .

Someone says TI has TI has tuned the OV9712 sensor in IPNC RDK 3.1. Who can tell me where I can get this software. Thank you very much!

Hi Li,

Thanks for sharing the image. If you observe the bottom right black patch, it is not reproduced accurately (has green patch). This could be issue with Black clamp.

As you said, you have done only AWB and color correction tuning. You need to do black clamp tuning before you start any module tuning.

Hi Li,

I am just having a feeling that i misinterpreted the issue after seeing the image once again thoroughly. Looks like there is some problem in the bottom few parts, because the chart border being black reproduced decently in the top half. I suggest we can take this issue/discussion offline (send mail to radhesh.bhat@pathpartnertech.com).
