How to update DVRRDK_03.00.00.00 Version to DVRRDK_03.00.01.03

I get the update file DVRRDK_03.00.01.03.tar.gz.With old Version DVRRDK_03.00.00.00 ,but i don't know how to update the Version to 3.01.

It seems that  uncompressed the file to current directory is not useful. And how i check the Version when i use?
