Mavell PHY 88E1112 link detection failure for SFP in OMAP L138 kernel 2.6.37

We are using Mavell PHY 88E1112 in OMAP L138 board. 88E1112 has two shared interface, one is using to connect Copper and another one to connect SFP. Both interface are connecting to MAC via SGMII port. Copper interface is working fine but the SFP interface is failed to detect any link on fiber or copper SFP module. OMAP kernel 2.6.37+ has support for Marvell PHY 88E1112 but we are not getting any success to enable this.

What changes we can make on kernel? We tried to reconfigure some PHY registers but no luck.

  • Hello Rahul Panwar,

it seems we have the same problem. We have done a sample of mediaconverter based on 88E1112, accordingly  to its documentation.

When two devices are connected by optics, there are 2 variants of behavior (both wrong):

    1) two stable links on wire from two sides and no optical link

    2) "flashing" links (one side or another). After 1, 2, 100 minutes sometimes may stop blinking and work, and may not.

When connecting it to any other device with SFP, may work properly after power on, and may not.

Have you achieved some success in 88E1112
