DM8168 PCIe end-point mode cannot be detected by a x86 PC root complex

Hi guys,

I have make a PCIe card with ep mode of DM8168, and root complex is a x86 PC.

Now, it cannot be detected by the root complex.

It is very strange that I plug in another PCIe card(not DM8168 and works fine) into the PC,

then boot the pc, halt it when the PC boot at the BOIS booting stage, "hot plug out" the PCIe card

and "hot plug in" the DM8168 PCIe card, continue booting the PC to windows system, the card,

DM8168 PCIe card, can be detected.

It means I cheat the PC with another kind of PCIe card by hot pluging. and finally it worked, the vender id is:

DEV_B800

PCI\VEN_104C&DEV_B800&SUBSYS_00010000&REV_01\4&25DFEA6C&0&0008

It seems correct.

Is anybody know the reasons. I have checked the "PCIe EP boot driver user guide" for several times.

Hello,

I know that this is the RC guide, but there is some background for PERSTn.

Check the SW5 state. In this case it should be SW5 ---> PCIe RST = OFF ('0') (INPUT)

Hi Vladimir,

It is not the TI's evaluation board, it is designed by ourselves. I have took care of the PCIe reset circuit.

As I know, after the PC release the PERSTn signal, a Endpoint PCIe device must be prepared in 200 ms,

or else, PC may miss the detecting.

I used two kinds of methods：

1, connect PERSTn to DM8168 chip reset.

2, leave the PERSTn unconnected, and use a dedicated reset circuit to DM8168, i am ensure that when PC release

PERSTn, DM8168 is prepared done.

Both of the 2 not worked.

Also I will check it again which you mentioned above. Our silicon version is 1.1.
