Reg: DM6446 connecting issue on custom board from CCS3.3v

Hi all,

I have a quiry regarding DM6446 connecting issue on custom board from CCS3.3v.  In my application, ARM initiates the DSP and  I wanted to find exclusively dsp cpu load on davinci.  I am thinking to use DSP/BIOS tool from CCS3.3v to capture this info in real time.  So, first of all I have to connect the target and my quiry is why I am not able connect target using ccs3.3v at intial stage? Is there any way to connect the target form CCS3.3 tool and find cpu load?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions...

Regards,

Harikrishna Sola.

  • Harikrishna,

    1. Which JTAG are you using?

    2. Explain the steps followed in detail while trying to connect.

  • Hi Renjith,

      1.  The JTAG I am using is XDS510USB

      2.  I have done two approaches to connect :

First one is I configured DM6446 XDS510USB Emulator from CCS3.3v setup and I connected JTAG device between pc and target processor hardware.                 Second step I have added gel files for the target processor. As third step I try to connect in CCS tool.   It results connection failed.

Second one when we  boot from linux it automaticaly loads dsp .out file and starts execution as default case.  I stopped autboot and commented out the loading from application and making arm processor to sleep for some time (approxly., 30secs) for dsp to process and during that time I do target connection and loading .out file from CCS.  Once it is loaded, starting execution by putting breakpoint at the required location.  But, in this case, as soon as that sleep time got finished, target is getting disconnected that was the issue I am facing.

Is it the right way to do connection ?  Is there any suggestions for me on this issue ?

    Regards,

    Harikrishna Sola.

  • Hari,

There is tool from Spectrum Digital known as sdconfig. Hope you have already installed the tool. If not follow the below link.

    http://support.spectrumdigital.com/ccs33/

Connect the JTAG and see whether its detected properly in windows device manager. If so, turn on the board and run the sdconfig tool. You'll be able to reset the emulator and connection.

    Check this for more information.
