Are there any difference between the AM3730 v DM3730 - I thought it was a name change only and the AM3730 does not really exist anymore?

There is no AM3730.

AM3703 : ARM Cortex-A8
AM3715 : ARM Cortex-A8 + GFX
DM3725 : ARM Cortex-A8 + DSP
DM3730 : ARM Cortex-A8 + GFX + DSP

Looks like TI does not produce an AM3730 device. The AM37x family is limited to the AM3703 and AM3715 devices.
