How to use McASP as McBSP in SITARA AM3892

I don't think you can use McASP for non audio purpose. From AM389x TRM:

14.1.1 Purpose of the Peripheral
The multichannel audio serial port (McASP) functions as a general-purpose audio serial port optimized for the needs of multichannel audio applications. The McASP is useful for time-division multiplexed (TDM) stream, Inter-Integrated Sound (I2S) protocols, and intercomponent digital audio interface transmission (DIT).

What exactly you want to do with McASP ?

Hi Pavel,

I am interfacing the AM3892 with two FPGAs. The ARM processor will hav complete control over the two FPGAs, i planned to interface the Arm and FPGA using McBSP, but since the processor contains only one McBSP, i wanted to know if i can interface the ARM processor to the 2nd FPGA using McASP which is configured as McBSP.

Also, you can check into the AM389x TRM and Datasheet, and compare the McBSP vs McASP in term of supported features, internal architecture, registers, pins, etc.

Hi Pavel, 

In one of the Links you sent, it says you can configure  the McASP as general purpose Serial port, this is contradicting to your 1st ans saying it cant be used for data other audio. Please clarify.
