DM3730: DSP and Power Consumption

1. We would like to know the use of internal DSP of DM3730.Can it be use for other application than Video processing.In the datasheet it seems DSP can only be used for Video only application.

2. Our major concern is power consumption of the DM3730. We have calculated the power of DM3730 using tool http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM/DM37x_Power_Estimation_Spreadsheet. In the power tool, DSP power section is only available when you enable the IVA system.

Please confirm the above to doubt.

    Hi Shekhar,

    The main purpose of the DSP is video and image processing, but it could be used for more general usage if you write the necessary socket node.

    The DSP is part of the IVA subsystem therefore the DSP power section is only available when enable the IVA subsystem.

    The tool which you are using is reliable enough.
