DM8168 - hardware issues ? how to make sure hardware is fine.

Hi All,

DM8168 - dvr box.

Please let me know how to make sure all the hardware component working fine with out running dvrmain application.

I wanted to test each hardware component testing separately?

Please let me know how to bring ups DM8168 hardware?

Please some one from hardware Team - let me know - how do u do DM8168 board up ?

Hi Mahesh,

There is not much you can do without using at least JTAG and a SD card prepared with u-boot. I would follow these steps:

1. Visual inspection of the board to ensure everythinng is soldered correctly and in place.

2. Initial power-up while checking for unexpected high input current.

3. Check all voltage rails for correct ramp-up sequence and voltages.

4. Check oscillators, reset circuits.

6. Connect terminal, try to boot from SD card.

7. After all that you can start peripheral bring up, which is 50-50 hardware and Linux.

Hi Biser,

yes i have followed the DDR3_init docs -- the linux is up write now.

The problem is other peripheral hardware need to check - the software is crashing if i run the DVR APP (VIDEO3 is crashing).

i am using our custom board.

Are you on EZSDK or DVR RDK? Which version?
