OMAP L138 Security

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP-L138

Hi,

I am interested in securing the boot process of my system based on OMAP-L138 application processor. I've downloaded the OMAP-L138 security document which is prelimenary document from January 2011. Is there a new version available? I have some troubles understanding the connection between ARM and DSP in secure boot. The ARM processor boots first and it should set the DSP entry point and release it from reset. How should it be done in case of secure boot? Should ARM set the secure ROM address as DSP entry point?

Thanks,

Alexey.

  • Hi,

I've got the updated version of the document (from July 2011), but still few basic things are not clear to me. It is stated in the document, that secure boot is for DSP part of OMAP-L138 and ARM always boots in non-secure mode. The basic thing I cannot understand is how the DSP is getting to process AIS commands if ARM is used as boot device in OMAP-L138 and AIS commands are executed by ARM. Another missing information for me is how to protect the DSP L1/L2 RAM from being accessed from ARM, should I use L1/L2 memory protection unit? Can it guarantee that ARM will not have access to L1/L2 RAM?

    Thanks.

    Alexey.
