On the AM3352, is there any way to monitor the 2 Ethernet Port statistics separately and simultaneously? It appears that only the combined sum can be monitored.

Also

I am trying to find the best PMIC, comparing the TPS65910A1 and TPS65217C. The TPS65217C is fully characterized from -40C to 105C, great for Industrial comms. However, I cannot determine from the TPS65217C documentation if the device can be configured for an always-on application. In other words, our product will always be running full speed when 24V power is present, no sleep or low-power modes will be used.

What statistics are you trying to monitor paticularly?
Also, Is this from within the Linux, Starterware, or SYSBIOS?

You are correct, the port statistics registers are shared between all the ports.

Hi Paul,

The TPS65217C is our new PMIC specifically designd to support the AM335x. To have the TPS65217C in always on mode you need to maintain PWR_EN pin high after the wakeup event (pg.15 of datasheet).

So does this specifically mean you cannot break out throughput data per port? Can that be derived by the way the port's are set up?

Are there any concerns running the PMIC always on from a thermal perspective?

Hi Paul,

There would be temperature concerns. However, the TPS65217C has internal thermal regulation that will limit charge current when the IC is too hot. Take a look at pg26 of the data sheet. If the IC is too hot the charge rate is decreased until the chip cools and then ramps back up to the optimum charge rate.

No. As all ports share the same statistics counter there is no practical way to utilize these registers as a per-port performance monitor when more than one port has statistics collection enabled. If you were only interested in monitoring performance for one port, you could disable stats collection for the other two ports via the STAT_PORT_EN register (TRM 14.5.8.4). This would ensure that the STATS registers are only updated for the port you are interested in monitoring.
