OMAP35xx vs DM37xx

The DM37xx series are identified as DaVinci™ ARM® + Video Solutions.

Both processors series OMAP35xx and DM37xx are very similar but you could look at the product parameter's pages on the links below to make own comparison:

Regardless of the part number naming convention between the two devices, the following article describes the differences between the two.  This was created because these two devices are very similar.

The migration guide helped but it reminded me how "AM37" is sometimes used to include "DM37" and how that gets confusing.

In any case, it seems to me that generally speaking we have:

1) ARM+DSP is the DaVinci architecture
2) Use of "OMAP" to describe some ARM+DSPs was used in the past but is now deprecated
3) For expediency, the term "AM37" was sometimes used to include "DM37" but they are separate since the "AM" parts never include a DSP core

Is the above a fair statement?  The reason I ask is that it gets very confusing when searching through the TI wiki pages and instead of finding exactly what I need (DM3730 on BeagleBoard-xM) I come across something that says "use this OMAP35 thing" or "use Sitara blah blah" and I can't tell if I should actually use it or if the info is just old and I should move on.
