am335x

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3354

In my development board ,i'm using Micron NAND flash ( 2GB ) - 16 Bit.I took a reference design from am335x starter kit but in that doesn't had a NAND flash. So I prefer am335x EVM kit,In that design they were using resistors in the data signals from AD0-AD!5 but denoted as DNI.I get one chinese kit they were using 4.7K resistor in the AD0-AD15 signals. In both the kits they were using the same input power VDDSHV1.

what can i do???if i neglect that resistor what will happens???Current limitation is important there???

  • Hi Rajas,

The resistors in the EVM are DNI because NAND is not populated on the base board. It's on the daugter board of the EVM. You don't need any serial resistors on the AD0...15 lines in your design, just 10kOhm pull-ups on CS0, WAIT0 and WPn.

    This is again Rajas.

I am again a keen doubt with AM3354 interfacing with DDR3 RAM ,I am using AM335x starter kit as my reference with 2Gb of RAM DDR3.

Now i use the same 2Gb (128Mx16) as from SK kit,it works well.

But for my apllication i planned to change the RAM from 2Gb to 4Gb by using 2 DDR3 RAM of 512x8.

Does AM3354 supports this 4Gb(Gigabit) speed of DDR3 RAM.???

What is the maximum support of DDR3 for am3354???

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi Rajas,

The DDR3 memory interface is identical for all AM335X devices. Up to 1GByte is supported (see AM335X TRM section 7.3 for details). For DDR3 design recommendations see section 5.5.2.3 of the AM335X Datasheet (there is a new revision E available for download).
