Timers in C6670

Hi TI,

I am using EVM 6670 and bios version bios_6_33_05_46

I want to use Timer for periodic tick generation.

When i select device specific timer i am getting error as Timer unsupported for device.So, is that only portable timer should be used for 6670?

I want to use shared timer. Can you please explain the steps .

I'm afraid that I saw the same error on C6670. I'm not sure but dmtimer may not support C6670 currently.

If you just want to call functions periodically (even different periods for different functions), you can use the portable timer. I recently answered on the following thread.

One caution is, to my best knowledge, resolution of the period depends on BIOS timer tick period. (Finer period requires smaller tick...)
