Dual MAC Address Programming in Efuse

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3871

Hi,

I'm working with the DM814x Eval Board and I've enabled Dual MAC Support in the kernel.  I notice that the addresses for MAC_ID0 and MAC_ID1 in the Efuse are both programmed with the same values so the kernel defaults to a randomized MAC ID for the 2nd MAC.  We plan on using the AM3871 in our future products and we plan on enabling Dual MAC Support.  What can we expect from these Efuse MAC_ID addresses?  Will they both be programmed with independent MAC ID's or should we plan on generating our own MAC ID's for 1 or both of these?

Thanks,

Eric

  • Hello Eric,

All DM814x TMS production die are programmedwith unique MAC_ID0 and unique MAC_ID1.

If there is a concern with a specific unit, then this could be worked through with TI FAE.  Alternatively you could provide the Lot Trace Code, DieID, and MACID if you would like us to try to track down more information on a specific unit in question.  It might be possible that this specific unit is a TMX pre-production unit, which would not follow the TMS production flow.

  • Thanks that answers my question.  It looks like this micro is labelled with an "X" prefix for "Experimental" so I guess that would explain it.

    Thanks,
