Performance issues of DM8127

We recently received DM8127 reference design by Aproho... and I have to say I am disappointed. Following are the issues I've found so far.

  1. Static / DHCP IP button does not work
  1. (Workaround : boot into uboot, change bootargs to use static Ip)
  • Camera view in "Web manager" halts / garbles / shows artififacts / goes completely useless when the lights are low (Not 0 lux) just low.
  • Web Manager itself fails to deliver performance.
  • Many built-in software features like Motion detection , face detection etc given on Web UI do not work.

I haven't dove into the software in-depth yet, but looking at this out of the box performance, I am shaky .. And what about hardware ?? is it stable or are there any issues there too ?

Is there any list of anomalies / bugs that we need to look at before diving it dm8127 design ?

  • Hi Muhammad,

We are sorry you had some problems in the out of box demo. DM8127 is a very stable hardware and we do not expect the issues observed by you.

Which version of software did you receive from Appro with the DM8127 design?

Typically the list of known anomalies and bugs are recorded in the release notes which is part of the release package.

    Regards

    Rajat

  • Hi, we also have a lot of instability and other issues with DM8127 IPNC. This happens with software 3.2 and 3.5.

Besides random crashes, here are 2 specific things that are reproducible:

Auto Iris function does not appear to work at all with TI AEWB.

And Appro AEWB does not appear to work with megapixel resolution. In fact with Appro AEWB and 5MP, 8MP and 10MP resolution, the right portion of the image is totally black.

Switching back from Appro AEWB to TI AEWB doesn't always succeed without reset and power cycle.

Do we have bad hardware ? Or is Auto Iris and Appro AEWB broken for megapixel resolution ?
