BeagleBone MCASP0 with the PCM1602a

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1602A

I am working on using the mcasp0 ports of the BeagleBone to output audio (I2S) using a PCM1602a DAC. The mcasp0_ahclkx will receive a system clock and output data and clock outputs to the mcasp0_axr0, mcasp0_axr1, mcasp0_axr2, mcasp0_aclkx, and mcasp0_fsx to their respective inputs of the PCM1602a. I have been looking at the different ASoC drivers available, and the PCM1602a does not have an available codec at this time. It is controlled via SPI, and I am able to program the device independent of the codec if needed and have already been able to do so. I am willing to implement this using Ubuntu or Angstrom distributions for the BeagleBone, I have no preference and have worked with both. I have very limited knowledge about manually configuring audio drivers, but have been able to compile a kernel (with Ubuntu) with the available ASoC codecs. Does anybody know of a possible solution to getting the PCM1602a running with the BeagleBone using ALSA/ASoC? I am also interested in driving I2S data out of the mcasp0 port without SPI control initial since I can do that independently.

Thanks
