DM8147 - ISIF/VPFE - IPNC White Balancing

The white balancing module executes white balancing to each color component by adjusting the ratio of each color in a CFA pattern.

The constants that are required to perform the auto-white balancing algorithm are determined and generated using the white balancing utility within the DCC tool (RGB2RGB) and are specific to the sensor being used in the design.

The NOIV1SE5000A-QDC HDR sensor is not included as one of the pre-defined white balancing defaults that are found in the IPNC stack. The application also does not allow us to use the auto-white balancing values that are generated by the DCC tool.

How can we proceed?

  • Mike,

AWB is tuned with the DCC AWB plugin. You shall tune AWB since you are using a new sensor.

It becomes more complicated for HDR sensors and DCC does not support HDR sensors yet.

But since AWB tuning scene has very low dynamic range, we can tune AWB in either linear sensor mode or HDR mode.

RGB2RGB is tuned by the DCC RGB2RGB plugin.

You don't have to tune AWB first and DCC shall take care of WB automatically.

Please provide your DCC version number, and I will confirm for you.
