Hello Sir,

The microSD we received with the kit OMAPL138 LCDK has encountered some problem.

Message is

EXT3-fs (mmcblk0p2): error: no journal found
VFS: Cannot open root device "mmcblk0p2" or unknown-block(179,2)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option; here are the available partitions:

Please let us know what went wrong and what is the fix.

Hi,

In the SD card, in "mmcblk0p2 partition", it may not have the valid root file system.
Please check for this and this root file system should be in ext3 file system.

If you SD card is corrupted, then follow the below link to make the partitions:

Thanx for the reply,

But the board we are using is OMAPL138.

I dont think "http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/How_to_Make_3_Partition_SD_Card#How_to_Make_3_Partition_SD_Card" is matching our needs.

The problem we are facing is "Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel".

There should be some problem with init file. Can you please help us in this error.

Hi venkatesh,

The kernel panic issue may occur due to many causes(such as wrong boot arguments, invalid root file system etc ).

Kindly let us know the boot arguments(using printenv command) you have used for booting the linux kernel from uboot.
Verify whether the microSD card you are using is with the correct partition as specified in the following wikipage.

If this partition is incorrect you can re-create the partitions in your SD card and boot the board from SD card using the following wiki link.
