AM3359 ICE RJ45 Magnetics

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK110

Hello,

I have a question about the used RJ45 connectors in the AM335x ICE board design.
The used type is 5-6605728-8 or 5-6605728-1 from TE. As of the datasheet it uses asymmetrical magnetics for NIC configuration (does not support Auto-MDI/MDIX).
Did TI choose this type on purpose or does an other RJ45 connector with integrated magnetics for 10/100Base-T will work as well (for example 1840642-3 from TE)?
Is there any special requirement for the EtherCAT application?

Link to the connectors:

Thanks.

Best regards,
Patrick
