Read 16bit port in StarterWare

That much was clear. I will try to use sysbios in order to make use of the PRU then. There was a forum post about running sysbios on the BeagleBone.

Another question that came to mind:

I was thinking of using an interrupt pin for the clock input and read the 16 pins during the ISR.

Is there any data regarding the speed of reading a GPIO in StarterWare for the BeagleBone, so that I can determine the max clock rate?

And yet another question:

I`ve been trying to set the dmtimer4 output pin toggle using "DMTimerGPOConfigure()" api function... no success so far.

I`ve tried setting the corresponding pin (P8 - pin 7 on the BB, corresponding to GPIO2 pin 2) as output after enabling the gpio port...

I suppose some pin mux is in order, but I can`t find any reference or examples for StarterWare.

Hello Bogdan,

If you need the method to Pin Multiplex a GPIO pin, please refer to the following files.

 1)      include\armv7a\am335x\pin_mux.h – This has macros which resolve the offset addresses of GPIO pins.  It also has macros which compute the value to be written to the Pad Control Registers of the Control Module.

2)      platform\beaglebone\gpio.c – This has the function which is called by a macro defined in ‘pin_mux.h’.

3)      examples\evmskAM335x\gpio_card_detect\gpioCardDetect.c – This example has used the Pin Multiplexing utility featured in the above two files.
