EzDSP C5535 distorted output

Running demo code from the Ti C5000 Teaching ROM (1KHz sinewave at Fs=48KHz) gives distorted output from the EzDSP board.

No audible distortion, but when hooking it up to a digital oscilloscope, I do no see a (near) perfect sinewave, but a distorted one.

Have a look at this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=FFrGY52kGuc

Is this quantization noise, or is something else wrong? I tried different powersupplies (switched-mode and lineair), but it did not improve anything.
