Hi,

are there any sample schematics, showing how to supply power to AM335x without using one PMIC model?
Is that possible, or not recommended for certain reasons?

The question is for a design which starts when external power is supplied, and shuts off when power is lost. There is no need for power button or low power states.

Thanks for any provided ideas.

Hi Wilfried,

TI recommends designing the AM335X power supply with one of the available PMIC's: TPS95910A, TPS65217 or TPS650250. You will not find reference designs based on other solutions.Customers have done it though.

You also asked why we are recommending PMIC...

We recommend the use of a PMIC because with it you can take advantage of dynamic voltage control reducing power consumption and it will provide the correct power on sequence.
