What is the role of Board ID EEPROM on Blaze MDP?

Hi Champs,

I'm checking the Blaze MDP processor board schematics (750-2165-109-SCH Rev.A) and found a component "Board ID EEPROM (U1: CAT24C208WI-G)" on page  11.
So, Could you please let me know the role of the component.  I could not find any descriptins of it in the schematics and Blaze Users Guide.

But, is it for configuration of DDR timings on the board?  I found a comment below.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
