Hello!

I would like to capture several different digital video streams (>4) from FPGA, possibly using line-to-line multiplexing. There are not so much detailed information about VIP in technical reference manual. Where can I find documentation about multiplexing streams format, VIP line multiplexing capabilities and VIP programming.

Hi,

VIP parser is available under NDA and you will have to contact local FAE for getting that. But why cant you use TVP5158 to interface with VIP instead.

I need to capture >4 HD/SD-SDI video channels. So I use equalizers, FPGA with SERDES and DaVinchi processor. I would like to find information about supported video data interleaving - data headers, v/h blanking time, different rate data interleaving and so on. I have seen TVP5158 reference breefly - some information is useful.

Hi,

You could refer to TVP5158 specs, TI8168 supports exactly in the same format. Regarding minimum horz blanking size requirement, let me try get this information from IP team.

I have seen on 3.8.3.5 of TVP5158 datasheet some VSYNC description, but it is yet unclear. For examp[le, thera are no "super frame" structure.

What development board(s) do You recommend to evaluate HD/SD-SDI multiplexing with 8168 or 8148 processors?

Hi,

We have VS daughter card, but it is multiplexed D1 streams over BT656 interface, you could use as reference.

I dont think any daughter card is available with HD and SD multiplexed inputs both.

Hi,

Current VS daughter card has TVP5158 to capture 4 D1 mux capture on each VIP port. TVp518 supports line as well as pixel mux capture. But pixel mux capture is recommended.

I don't need to capture an analog video. I'd like to find a processor (DaVinchi or other compatible) evaluation board with digital video input port(s) (VIP) available in a connector. To connect an FPGA ev. board with cable (or directly, if it is posible).

Hi,

You can than use the base evm of 8148 directly. It has all the VIP ports brought out to connector. You need to design your FPGA board to match these connectors and you should be able to push digital signals to VIP port. You will be able to get the latest schematics from Mistral site.

TVP5158 specs clearly explains the input format requires for the line mulitplexed data. Even meta data is explaned, so could you please go through the specs in detail? You will be able to get all the information required for your FPGA.
